East meets West concerts

A highlight of the Oxford Prospescts Short programme for overseas university students is our concerts, which showcase short works of Western and Eastern classical and folk music.

The concerts have run regularly since Winter 2015, and have provided opportunities for a large number of exceptionally talented students from China and from Oxford to perform. We are pleased to run the concerts in association with Wolfson College Musical Society, meaning that we can benefit from the splendid surroundings of the Leonard Wolfson Auditorium.

Highlights of the series so far have included...

Jesus College choir tour

As part of the summer 2015 Jesus College choir tour of China, Oxford Prospects Programmes organised visits for the choir to three universities in southern China: Fudan and Shanghai Ocean Universities in Shanghai, and Zhejiang Gongshang University in Zhejiang Province just south of Shanghai.

The choir gave several concerts, alone and jointly with local Chinese university musical societies. The choristers also met university officials and students in order to discuss life at Oxford.
