Winter programme 2016

The 2016 winter student programme is now fully subscribed. Students will stay in St Hugh's College, Jesus College, Trinity College and Linton Lodge Hotel.

Among the new activities for this session are:

  • a workshop on choosing and planning for careers
  • a talk on international relations
  • a visit to historic Broughton Castle, home of Lord and Lady Saye and Sele
  • a series of discussion groups to give our students plenty of opportunities to interact with Oxford University students.

We are also repeating many of our favourite activities from previous sessions, including:

OPP hosts GDUFS president

Oxford Prospects Programmes was delighted to host a visit to Oxford by Professor Zhong Weihe, President of Guandong University of Foreign Studies, together with three Heads of School.

We organised meetings at St Catherine's College (with the Master and the tutor in charge of visiting students) and at Worcester College (with the Senior Tutor and the tutor in charge of visiting students). Both colleges are keen to explore the possibility of opening their existing visiting student schemes to students from GDUFS and other Chinese universities.

Partnership with AICCC

OPP today signed a partnership agreement with the Academy for the International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC).

Based at Beijing Normal University, AICCC publishes an academic journal on the international communication of Chinese culture, and runs cultural exchanges and other events. A regular feature in the AICCC calendar is the annual 'Looking China' Youth Film Project, which provides heavily subsidised places for selected overseas students to visit China for a fortnight and make short documentary films about their experiences.

OPP hosts cultural dialogue

With 2015 designated by the Chinese and UK governments as the first UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange, the cultural delegation that accompanied President Xi Jinping on his October 2015 state visit to the UK was particularly prominent. The delegation included, among others:

Partnership with IFoA

Oxford Prospects Programmes today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries to promote our mutual interest in international collaboration, exchange and understanding.
Our students value the opportunity to learn about membership of IFoA and about the career opportunities open to them in the actuarial profession.

OPP organises Shanghai visit for Jesus College

Oxford Prospects Programmes is organising visits to universities in Shanghai for a delegation of senior members and students from Jesus College, Oxford University.

The events form part of the Jesus College choir tour of China. During their visit the Oxford delegation will take part in joint academic events with the host universities as well as performing a series of choral concerts. Among the local institutions hosting the choir is Fudan University (pictured).
